Are you ready for LEX?
Do you love camp and want to be a role model for younger campers? Are you a Camp Fresh Roots veteran looking to improve your leadership skills and experience and connect with a group of other youth? You’re ready for LEX, the Camp Fresh Roots Leadership Experience!
The LEX program has two parts: the LEX Training Week and LEX volunteering
What happens in LEX?

LEX Training
Join us July 14-18 for a week of learning in a small group and getting to know the ins and outs of camps. You’ll spend about half your time connecting as a team, learning about leadership and working with kids, and more. You’ll spend the other half of your time learning by doing with our camp groups.
LEX applicants need to be at least 12 years old by the end of August 2025, and be ready to take a leadership role in their community. They should have an interest in working with younger kids, a willingness to work with others and try new things, and a positive attitude. All LEX participants must agree to abide by the LEX Expectations.
Program Cost: $100, including required Fresh Roots Tee (LEXers are requested to wear a Fresh Roots shirt as their uniform) If cost is a barrier, please let us know.
Applications are now open for LEX 2025. The next round of acceptances will be sent out March 11. We will be accepting 6 LEXers in 2025.
LEX Volunteering
Once you’ve completed your LEX training week, you can volunteer with Camp Fresh Roots!
LEXers can sign up to Camp or Kitchen Helpers. Camp Helpers are assigned to a camper group for the week, and help the campers with things like arts and crafts projects, farming, reading stories, or playing games at recess. Kitchen Helpers spend half their time with a camp group, and half their time with our camp chef in the kitchen!
We’ll send an email out to our LEX alumni in early February with a volunteer interest form. New LEXers will be sent the volunteer interest form once they are accepted into the LEX training week. Volunteering assignments will be given in mid-March.
