We believe that how we work together is as important as the work we do. That’s why we grow strong teams that foster change through learning, sharing, and development. Each year, we hire around 20 young people to help grow our farms and facilitate our learning programs through seasonal positions.
Farm Positions

Farm Production Manager
Primary Location: Metro Vancouver Schoolyard Farm sites
Contract Position, February 2, 2026 – March 12, 2027

The Fresh Roots Farm Team operates our educational farms towards our production, sales and educational goals.
In this key role under the direction of the Director of Farm Operations (DFO), the Production Manager will be responsible for supervising the operation of Vancouver Schoolyard Farm sites and staff.
This person should be able to “see the room” and identify what needs doing, when. We are looking for an ambitious, community-minded farmer who has strong vegetable production and leadership experience.

Farm Market Lead

The Fresh Roots Farm Team operates our educational farms towards our production, sales and educational goals. In this key role under the direction of the Director of Farm Operations, the Market Lead will operate our Vancouver produce markets and CSA program, often with youth from Fresh Roots’ SOYL program. We are looking for a skilled salesperson, however will train less experienced applicants who are motivated to learn.

The Fresh Roots Farm Team operates our educational farms towards our production, sales and educational goals. Under the guidance of the Director of Farm Operations and Farm Production Lead, Field Crew positions are designed to empower new farmers to maintain the ½ acre site or market stand that they are assigned through the season. We are looking for farmers, gardeners and landscapers and will train less experienced applicants who are motivated to learn.

SOYL Positions

SOYL Program Lead
Primary Location: Primarily Coquitlam, with some work in Vancouver and the surrounding community.
Seasonal, Part-time hours in April/May (exact start date flexible), then full-time (37.5 hours/week on average) June through August 28.

We’re looking for a strong team leader and program manager to steward our signature SOYL teen leadership program on our Coquitlam farm this summer!
You’ll oversee all aspects of SOYL, including participant selection and communications, pre-season program planning, onboarding and training of SOYL facilitators, managing the 6-week SOYL program from July 6-August 21, and reflecting and reporting at the end of the season. You will work under the direction of the Executive Director, in collaboration with the Farm and Experiential Learning Teams, and will supervise the SOYL facilitators.

If you love inspiring teens to become leaders and change-makers, diving deep into food systems learning, getting your hands dirty outside, and sharing delicious meals, this could be the job for you!
SOYL Program Facilitators work closely in a small team under the direction of the SOYL Program Manager and with support from the Farm Team to make our 6-week Sustainable Opportunities for Youth Leadership outdoor teen learning program happen. We’re looking for people who see the best in teens and can help them develop their skills in everything from planting seeds to cooking meals to working through conflicts.
Day Camp Positions

Day Camp Leadership Specialist
Primary Location: Vancouver

Do you have experience working at summer camp and want to take your skills to the next level by mentoring youth to be leaders? Does the idea of passing on your camp knowledge to the next generation of leaders excite you? If so, the Leadership Program Specialist role at Camp Fresh Roots might be for you!
The Leadership Program Specialist works alongside the Director of Experiential Learning Programs to plan and run the Leadership Experience (LEX) and Counsellor-in-Training/SOYL Apprentice (CIT) programs for youth ages 12-18, providing them with opportunities to build their skills and experience in leadership, facilitation, and working with kids. The LEX program is for youth ages 12-15 who have attended Camp Fresh Roots in the past and are looking to develop their leadership skills and be role models for campers, while the CIT program is for alumni of Fresh Roots’ SOYL program who want to gain experience working with children. This position will also perform a variety of administrative tasks and provide support to Camp Program Staff and the Camp Directors throughout the summer.

Day Camp Food Specialist

Are you a skilled cook or chef who loves sharing cooking with kids? Do you pride yourself on maintaining a clean, safe, and joyful cooking and learning environment? Does the idea of gluten-free, vegan, beet brownies cooked in a camping oven excite you? Can you inspire kitchen confidence in the youngest of chefs, and encourage an adventurous spirit in vegetable-skeptical eaters? This might be the position for you!
Cooking and eating delicious, farm-fresh food is central to Camp Fresh Roots! The Food Program Specialist manages and facilitates all aspects of the camp food program, cooking daily with up to three groups of 15 campers ages 5-12. Each group makes a lunch and 3-4 snacks in our outdoor kitchen weekly. In June, the Food Program Specialist will assist with some farm field trips along with preparing for the summer. They report to the Camp Directors, and work closely with the Camp Program Staff.

If you love seeing kids find joy in holding worms or discover that kale is their favorite food, if you have a favorite silly vegetable song or game, and if you think camp is the best part of summer, this might be the position for you! Day Camp Facilitators will facilitate Camp Fresh Roots programming for kids ages 4-12 at our Vancouver and Coquitlam schoolyard farms. Our camp programming includes educational activities, games, songs, farm work, harvesting, cooking, and sharing food, field trips, and more. Day Camp Facilitators will work as part of a small team to lead a mix of pre-planned and camper-directed activities, with the opportunity for you to create programming you’re passionate about.
